Our Story: From Caracas to the Coast

The name Macawii was born in the skies above Caracas, Venezuela. Growing up, co-founder Rafa watched the city’s vibrant Macaws fly overhead, a symbol of color and resilience that stayed with him long after he left.

His journey was shaped by a home that valued the essentials: a solid education, deep-rooted discipline, and the grit of high-level competitive sports. In a world where famous labels were often out of reach, Rafa learned early on that true quality isn't about a price tag, it’s about the utility and the character of the person wearing it.

The Power of Two

That vision found its match in Madara. Born and raised in Latvia, Madara's competitive edge was forged on the volleyball court, where she played NCAA Division I collegiate volleyball. That world taught her that discipline isn't optional and that details decide outcomes, lessons she brought straight into the business.

Madara oversees quality from start to finish, bringing the same discipline she built as an athlete and coach into every stage of production. Every piece is held to that bar, and it doesn't bend. She is the engine that drives our excellence, day in and day out.

Based in St. Petersburg, Florida, Macawii is our mission to create the next generation of iconic wearables. We don't just make clothing; we build the next generation of everyday essentials.
